Sometimes though, your own little worries and anxieties get thrown into sharp perspective at the sound of bad news. The shallow nature of our own worries, the minor everyday problems that seem to grow and overwhelm us are usually not things we should dwell on.
If you have those you love around you these holidays, appreciate the importance of that. After all, there are people all over the world for whom the day to day struggles of life are horrendous. We have little understanding of how those in the Philippines are attempting to rebuild their lives, for example.
Then there are those closer to home; people we know who have to face Christmas without a dear loved one for the first time, people critically ill in hospital, the homeless... I don't want to sound preachy, but I just had a moment of perspective and wanted to share it with you.
Things might not be as bad as they seem. Let's have some self-awareness this holiday season.
